Our top Vacation rental tips:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • To book the largest vacation home for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Crystal Coast attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Crystal Coast area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area travel guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and picking the perfectvacation home:

  • Select your dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Blondie East, Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
