Tricks and tips to get the perfect Crystal Coast rental home experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and choosing a perfectvacation home:

  • Choose dates and budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. A Gritty Palace - Oceanfront House, 5BR, 4.5BA, Pine Knoll Shores has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, email the host before booking the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
