Tips to get the optimal Crystal Coast rental home experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Emerald Isle rental home:

  • Summer is high season in the Crystal Coast area. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Crystal Coast area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to choose and book your prefect Crystal Coast rental home:

  • To start, have your family commit to date ranges and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. 2 The Max, Oceanside House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation group.
  • Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
