Strategies for getting the perfect Crystal Coast vacation home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer months are high season in Beaufort. To get the largest rental home for your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Crystal Coast restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. The Lookout, Soundside House in Historical Beaufort, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • If there's a specific Crystal Coast destination you love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
