Strategies for getting the best New Bern vacation home experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Summer time is high season in New Bern. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Crystal Coast area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • First and foremost, have your family agree to date ranges and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Unique 2 Bedroom Condo
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or might be applied to your invoice.

Tips for a great stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
