Tips and Tricks for getting the best rental home experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • In the Crystal Coast area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • To get the best rental home within your budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Third-Floor Condo at Oceanfront Resort with Balconies, WiFi & Shared Pools\/Gym has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is best for your vacation group.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
