Our top Crystal Coast rental booking tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserve your Crystal Coast vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply Crystal Coast area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • First, have your family commit to dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. The Mireille - Cozy Atlantic Beach House just a 4 minute walk from the beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

More considerations:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
