Tips and Tricks to get the best Crystal Coast vacation home experience:

Get the best value:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in Pine Knoll Shores. To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, management companies supply Crystal Coast area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your Search:

  • Start by selecting trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Point Prospect Shores- Ocean Front Maritime West Condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

During your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
