Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Crystal Coast area. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning, selecting, and booking the best Crystal Coast vacation home:

  • Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Southwinds A17 - 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Oceanfront Condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • If there's a particular Crystal Coast beach you simply love, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

More considerations:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
