Tips to get the perfect Crystal Coast rental experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting the perfect vacation home:

  • Start by having your family select a vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Sound front and Ocean Views! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If not, contact the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is best for your group.
  • If there's a particular Crystal Coast destination you are crazy about, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

During your stay:

  • Add the host's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the property manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
