Tricks and tips to get the perfect Emerald Isle vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Summer time is high season in the Crystal Coast area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Sound front and Ocean Views! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a certain Crystal Coast beach you long to visit, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
