Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation rental experience:

When to book a Crystal Coast rental home & When to go:

  • Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. Book your Crystal Coast vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Selecting and booking your prefect Crystal Coast vacation home:

  • To start, have your family decide on a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Sandtoesha West, Ocean and Sound Views, in Emerald Isle, close to everything! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is best for your vacation family.
  • If there's a specific Crystal Coast beach you crave, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
