Strategies to get the perfect Pine Knoll Shores vacation home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • To find the largest vacation home for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Crystal Coast attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your rental search:

  • Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Roosevelt Retreat, Almost Oceanfront House, Located in Pine Knoll Shores, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If they are not listed, call the host before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your contract.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
