Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. Reserve your Crystal Coast rental in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Perfect Oceanfront Cottage With Private Pool: Sea Glass has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is best for your vacation.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many problems.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
