Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Crystal Coast area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Steps to the beach - Dogs Welcome & Fenced in yard! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • If there's a particular Crystal Coast attraction you are enamored with, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
