Tricks and tips for getting the perfect rental home experience:

When to visit Emerald Isle & When to book:

  • In the Crystal Coast area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • To find the best rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, management companies supply Crystal Coast area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and picking the right Crystal Coast vacation home:

  • Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Home w\/Private beachfront\/oceanfront access\/OceanViews\/PrivateBackyard@The Point has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

Tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
