This unique historic home was originally a dependency to the sizable Coor-Bishop House located a half block away, where President James Monroe stayed in 1819 while touring the South.
The home contains two enormous bedrooms with vaulted ceilings and new King beds with new beds. One King bed can be converted to two Twin XLs upon request. The home
is freshly refreshed with fresh paint, new furnishings, luxury linens and amenities and a new gas range in the well-appointed kitchen.
Walk to the riverfront, Tryon Palace and historic downtown and its many eateries, bars, stores, and galleries. Unwind on the screen porch. Cruise or kayak the Neuse and Trent Rivers. Take a short 45-min. drive to Beaufort, Oriental, and the charming Crystal Coast beaches.
Sorry, but no kids under 8 years of age. Infants are welcome but we do not provide cribs or playards.
PLEASE NOTE: The home is located on a raised basement with 12 steps from the street level to the front door. All bedrooms are on the second floor.

Tricks and tips to get the best Crystal Coast vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in New Bern. To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Crystal Coast restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply Crystal Coast area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the perfect rental in the Crystal Coast area:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Circa 1810 Home - Downtown New Bern Historic District - 2 BRs with King Beds has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges applied to your contract.
- If there's an individual Crystal Coast attraction you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Have a fantastic stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
