Tricks and tips for getting the best rental home experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply Crystal Coast area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select vacation dates and max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Custom Beachfront Home, Oceanfront Oasis to relax and recharge. has 2 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.

Advice for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
