Our top Rental home tips:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To book the best vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Crystal Coast restaurants and activities.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides have discounts for local tours and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Start by selecting your a vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Home with golf cart, community pool, easy access,Spinnakers Reach community has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual Crystal Coast beach you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
