Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Crystal Coast area. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select your vacation week and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Hip Newly Renovated Historic Riverside Home in New Bern, NC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
