Crystal Coast rental home tips:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. Book your Crystal Coast vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Choosing the best rental:

  • Choose vacation week and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. 4BR Home at the Point! 2nd Row from beach has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your invoice.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

More considerations:

  • Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
