About this Property

  • Sleeps 15
  • 4 Bedrooms
  • 4 Bathrooms
  • Lodge
  • Approximately 3200 square feet

Located on a peaceful dead-end road just mins. from Beaufort's Historic District, this unique property offers the ideal blend of history, appeal, and comfort. Once a church fellowship hall, this cavernous 4-bedroom home is ideal for family get-togethers or group gatherings. It's our hidden getaway in a lively and historic coastal town. The sanctuary itself was constructed in 1933 in the modest fishing village of Bettie, and was later moved to Beaufort in 1979 when they added the fellowship hall. In 2019 we purchased the property and began the long process of renovating and creating The Crystal Coast Sanctuary Retreat.

The property is just a 15-min. leisurely walk (or an 8-min. bicycle ride) to the Historic District's waterfront, where you’ll find stores, eateries, bars, and museums. Back at home, savor our serene maritime forest backyard, home to waterfowl, fish, and deer. Unwind on the swing under the old live oaks or gather around the firepit in one of three creekside seating areas. With 400 feet of waterfront, you can soak in the relaxing coastal breeze while spotting egrets, herons, ibis, and ospreys. And don’t miss the spectacular sunsets!

Our kayak-accessible creek flows into Town Creek Bay and Gallant’s Channel, ideal for paddling adventures. History buffs will appreciate discovering the old menhaden railroad bed, once used by the Fishmeal Company, which runs along the back of our property.

Inside, the open floor plan offers plenty of space for cooking, entertaining, or calming. The completely equipped kitchen features a new 5-burner glass-top induction stove with two ovens (one sizable convection and one modest), a enormous microwave, a full-size refrigerator, and a commercial dishwasher. With ample cookware, dishes, and glasses, hosting a feast is painless, and our wraparound bar comfortably seats 10. The property has two bathrooms (each with two toilets), a separate shower room with two showers, a washer/dryer, and a marvelous outdoor shower.

The home includes four private bedrooms (no sheets supplied—rental available for $10/bed with one week's notice):

1 queen bedroom
1 double bedroom
2 bedrooms with 6 single bunk beds each (total of 12 single beds).
For an additional $350/nighttime, you can access the attached 1,400 sq. ft. sanctuary, a striking multi-purpose space featuring comfortable seating, four couch beds, two dining/game tables, a stage, an 85" intelligent TV, and two half baths.

Step outside to enjoy our elegant new 500 sq. ft. covered back porch. The decor throughout the home reflects decades of our family’s adore for the area, featuring unique artifacts, natural treasures, and local art.

Leave your car parked and discover Beaufort by foot, bicycle, or kayak! There’s plenty of parking for boat trailers, and public beaches are just a short 5–15 min. drive away (Radio Island or Atlantic Beach). Or take a ferry from Front Street to Rachel Carson Nature Preserve, Shackleford Banks, or Cape Lookout to experience wild ponies, dolphins, and pristine sands.

We live close by and are happy to offer recommendations for activities and local spots to discover. We hope you’ll enjoy this little slice of heaven as much as we do!

PLEASE REMEMBER:

Tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Beaufort. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning and picking the perfectrental:

  • Choose vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. 3 Acre Waterfront Retreat in Downtown Beaufort, NC has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your contract.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
