The eat-in kitchen seats 4 and the dining room seats 8-10. Curl up in the recliner in the living room to savor a book, away from the gang, or sit on the screened porch or deck and enjoy the waterfowl and perhaps even dolphin playing in North River. Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Crystal Coast restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply Crystal Coast area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Finding the best rental in the Crystal Coast area:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Spectacular Sunrises over the Waters of North River has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a specific Crystal Coast beach you simply love, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Tips for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
