Booking the best Crystal Coast vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in the Crystal Coast area. To get the best rental within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

How to pick the best vacation rental in the Crystal Coast area:

  • Start by choosing your trip dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Shipwatch Atlantic Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental

More considerations:

  • Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • During check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
