Tips to get the best Crystal Coast vacation home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best value, try changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose and book the bestrental:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Near Oceanfront Condo at Tar Landing Villas - Adjacent to Ft Macon State Park has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or may be applied to your invoice.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
  • During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
