Strategies for getting the perfect Crystal Coast vacation rental experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • In the Crystal Coast area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summer is high season in Beaufort. To get the largest rental for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Crystal Coast restaurants and activities.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Crystal Coast visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.

How to select the best vacation home in the Crystal Coast area:

  • Start by having your family agree to dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Dog Friendly Fenced Cottage Minutes from the Water! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
  • If there's a certain Crystal Coast beach you love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More considerations:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
