Our top Crystal Coast rental home tips and tricks:

Get the most from your spending budget:

  • In the Crystal Coast area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To book the largest rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Crystal Coast area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose the best vacation rental:

  • Select your vacation dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Cabin: Lower Winter prices! Snowbirds Welcome! Bring your boat for fall fishing has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
  • If there's a particular Crystal Coast attraction you simply love, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

Additional considerations:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
