How to book the best Crystal Coast rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in the Crystal Coast area. Book your Crystal Coast rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the best rental in the Crystal Coast area:

  • Select your dates and budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Cabin: Lower Winter prices! Snowbirds Welcome! Bring your boat for fall fishing has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If they are not listed, email the host before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. message the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
