Tricks and tips to get the very best Crystal Coast vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Book your Crystal Coast vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.

Choosing the perfect rental home in the Crystal Coast area:

  • Select your vacation dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Upscale Bungalow - 129 Craven Street\n300 feet from Beaufort Waterfront has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Crystal Coast vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If not, contact the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your family.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
