Tips to get the best rental home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summer months are high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, consider changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • In the Crystal Coast area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to pick the perfect rental in Emerald Isle:

  • First, have your family agree to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. BREATHTAKING PANORAMIC BEACHFRONT VIEWS THAT LIVE UP TO ITS NAME . . . CLOUD 9 has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Call the rental manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
