Atlantic Beach just made #16 in the list of Top 100 Beaches in the United States, beating out even beaches in Hawaii! Truly a hidden gem, as this part of the island doesn't have public access, beyond a few cars, so it's just folks staying right there.

My favorite spots here are the broad with outdoor areas, including dining, giant sectional couches, and fire table to savor as the sun goes down. I adore that I can hear the waves crash from here.

Crystal Coast rental booking tips:

Money saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the largest rental within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Crystal Coast attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Crystal Coast area visitor guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Crystal Coast visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the perfect rental in Atlantic Beach:

  • Start by choosing trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Barefoot Beach: Spectacular Family Beach Retreat! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
