Tips and Tricks to get the best Crystal Coast vacation home experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Crystal Coast vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning and picking your prefectvacation home:

  • Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. A Place At The Beach III , One-bedroom Unit has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If not, email the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is right for your vacation.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Advice for a terrific stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
