How to book the best Crystal Coast rental home experience:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Crystal Coast area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides have discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Make a plan and choose a perfect Crystal Coast rental:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. 4 bedroom, 2 bath home with 3 porches, & steps from the beach in Atlantic Beach has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you book your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
