The Bird Hike at Fort Macon is a fun and engaging opportunity to explore one of the Crystal Coast’s most renowned landmarks while spotting a myriad of local and migrating birds that flock to this coastal destination.
The Bird Hike at Fort Macon launches from the Fort Macon Visitor Center, and is a special event that is only held in the cooler winter and early spring months, when the barrier island region is alive with waterfowl and feathered species of all varieties. Attendees who want to join in the fun can meet at 9 a.m. at the centrally located Fort Macon Visitor Center, where they will launch on a leisurely hike with a knowledgeable guide who will point out species of interest. Cameras are encouraged for the ensuing stroll, and expect to see plenty of birds and accompanying beautiful views along the way. With a picture perfect location on the edge of the Crystal Coast shoreline, and plenty of species to see which flock to the area in the cooler off-season months, the Bird Hike at Fort Macon is a fun way to explore the wild nature of the Crystal Coast.
